About
Mariadela Araujo is a Venezuelan-Spanish artist, designer, and educator based in Barcelona, working internationally. In addition to her artistic endeavors, she is also a skilled floral designer, blending her creativity with a deep appreciation for nature.
From her studio-laboratory, Mariadela conducts research and experimentation to create captivating artworks, functional objects, and large-scale installations. Utilizing a diverse array of textile materials and vibrant color palettes, her practice elevates traditional artisan techniques such as weaving, embroidery, and textile assembly, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
Challenging the boundaries between art and design, her work explores themes of materiality, beauty, and contrast, often merging natural and industrial elements in surprising combinations. By embracing juxtaposition, Mariadela positions her creations at the intersection of functional and decorative, traditional and modern.
Recognized by AD Magazine Spain as one of the leading Spanish designers, Mariadela has collaborated with esteemed brands such as Loewe, Lexus, Saatchi Art, EÈRA, WeWork, Limited Edition Rugs, and Casa Aymat. Her work has been showcased on prominent platforms including Maison & Objet, Première Vision, Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam, and Fuorisalone Milano.
With exhibitions spanning Europe and beyond—including Brussels, Paris, Barcelona, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Mallorca, Caracas, and Yerevan—Mariadela consolidates her voice as a creator who expands the possibilities of textiles within both the art and design realms, while also incorporating her passion for floral design into her innovative approach.
